HABITS THAT TRANSFORMED MY HEALTH/WELLBEING | PART 2: NUTRITION |
Three key habits have built the foundation for where I am today: the fittest I’ve ever been. The most mentally strong. More comfortable in my own shoes and in the direction I’m walking. Nutrition is the third and final component - mostly because I was a lazy vegetarian for FAR too long.
HABITS THAT TRANSFORMED MY HEALTH/WELLBEING | PART 1: INTENTIONS + VALUES |
There are countless facets to true health and wellbeing that we overlook. Here's a peek into the REAL habits and shifts that have truly transformed my own wellbeing both mentally and physically.
How-to: plan a balanced Bali holiday
Ever over-planned a holiday to the point where you're exhausted on the flight home? Ever said good bye to routine entirely, and spent weeks moaning, groaning and announcing "where you'd rather be" on your return? Me too. This holiday, I was determined to do things differently.
Switching off for the girl who never can
In 2018, I made the realisation that self-care or slowing down in the form of watching TV or lying on the couch simply doesn't work for me. Before the beginning of 2019, I endeavoured to find out if visiting a local retreat would do what the couch didn't. Would Willow Urban Retreat truly manage switch to off the girl who never can?
5 ways I’m looking after myself this Spring.
If you've been following my Instagram, you'll know that I was recently struck by the inter-seasonal flu. I use the term 'struck' quite intentionally: it really was that devastating for me. The good news is, it's set me on a newly-inspired path towards health and wellness for Spring.
Unhappiness: Is it Sam Smith’s fault?
The other day I was listening to Sam Smith’s, “Too Good at Good Byes”, and weird as it sounds, placing myself in his heartbreak. Ironically, all my relationships have ended somewhat amicably, and even more importantly, I’m in a happy one at the present. It made me wonder: why did it feel so good to pretend I knew Smith’s pain? Was it the gospel choir that chimes in mid-way? Or something much deeper than this? I know what you’re thinking: what’s deeper than a gospel choir, right? Well, it turns out there is one such thing. Another…
The Importance of Outer Beauty
It is a wonder to discover that in a world so beguiled by self-image, we can still discern what it is to be truly beautiful. A word layered with endlessly more meaning than the likes of ‘hot’ and ‘sexy’, to relate it to self is far from media-inspired. Belief in our own beauty can be found with whom the revenue-driven discourage a visit: our raw and untouched selves. It is here where we shall uncover that to be beautiful is no more than to feel it. Over the past couple of weeks, I have subconsciously divulged into the topic of beauty…
STRONGER
I remember the day I finally held myself accountable. It was sudden and unprecedented, like most encounters we’ll have with change. Not surprisingly, this turning point occurred in front of the mirror. I’d stopped and looked at myself, only to face a familiar discomfort with the opposing reflection. Nearing 16, I was well-informed of this prime I would enter in teenage-dom. They spoke of it as the do-all era. We’d stride through it encompassed by all but limitation. A sense of invincibility, this would be inevitable. The person I saw in the mirror – the girl who would embark these…
What all girls really need to hear
“Love yourself”, “Celebrate your body”, “Accept the skin you’re in” – we’ve heard it all before. Of course, the wording differs slightly. As for the effect- eh, debatable these days, but most likely remaining the same: “I will.. once I become this weight” or “Well, that’s easy for a Victoria’s Secret model to say.” And honestly, I no longer find deep significance in these often corny and frustratingly simplistic body affirmations. Especially when they do come from women whose bodies are celebrated at the biggest annual lingerie show worldwide. As much as I love the Victoria’s Secret models, being relatable…
