SEEN AND LIKED: A HUMBLE MOMENT AT NZFW.
By Day Two, I've already reached the point I always do at Fashion Week. The one where I wonder why I'm here and if it really fits with who I am at all. Soon enough, something always spurs my why. This time, it's Aurai Swimwear and Salty Sea.
So you think you’re above NZFW?
The last few days, majority of us media hounds have frequented Viaducts Events Centre for the infamous NZFW. I needn’t tell you though – it’s been everywhere. To an audience of international buyers as well as to the fashionably-swayed of the public (whether socially, stylishly or both), a range of both renowned and upcoming designers have showcased the best of their coming Spring collections. For someone like me, this is exciting. The art of dressing everyday is one in which, for the most part, I take very seriously. I believe in its capacity for great things, these that…
NZFW // Parties, Problems & Pick-Me-Ups.
So guys, I wrote a whole post. Actually multiple. And then, get this, Day 3 of NZFW, the day when all would be released of my own tired hands, my laptop decided to freeze mid-login. I could not so much as view my desktop, let alone, access anything residing in pertinence on the goddamn hard drive. To claim this event was situational disfortune would be lying (at least somewhat) on my own part. My laptop has been crapping out for months. In fact, it took so long to construct these once-standing posts, given it could only hold about…
NZFW DAY TWO: HIGHLIGHTS
Day two officially marks the first full day of Fashion Week. It’s the very beginning of what will be (beautiful) mayhem for the next several days. Tuesday consisted of five shows, two shoots, visits to and from the media centre to edit, write and relay. There was a lunch at Jack Tar, an after-party at Snapdragon and a visit to the White Lady for late night fries. One could argue there was not a facet to the city (and to fashion) that wasn’t covered. It was busy in the most ideal way a day can be. At particular points, Tony…
NZFW DAY TWO // LESSONS I’VE LEARNT
Since Day One of NZFW, we’ve been learning things, and these things have not been limited to the nature of Autumn/Winter collections 2017. I’m talking how to balance your coffee between two laptops and two cameras, how to make a half hour journey fit into ten minutes, and how to shoot in the same time frame. Needless to say, it’s been hectic, and the lessons are ongoing. Here’s where we’re at so far. 1. Respect the schedule. I hinted at this slightly in Back To Blak, my first post of NZFW. What ought to be noted is that while recognising…
